Attendance
Dear Coyote Families,
Welcome! I look forward to working with you to ensure our students thrive this school year. In order to achieve that, students need to arrive on time and be in class prepared to learn. If for any reason, that is not possible, below are the procedures for tardies, absences and student releases.
ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
Tardies and absences:
Students that are more than 30 minutes late to class are considered absent and can be considered truant. Per district policy and in accordance with CA EdCode, “a student missing less than 30 minutes of a period is considered tardy. A student missing 30 minutes or more of a period is considered absent. The absence will only be recorded as a truancy if the time missed is not warranted or excused.”
Students who leave campus without permission are considered truant.
Absences that are not excused will be considered unexcused after 10 days.
In order to reduce the high volume of phone calls, to excuse tardies or absences, please send doctor or legal notes with student or by email. If no note is provided, parent can send an email to: [email protected]
Hart District Attendance Policy can be found HERE.
CA EdCode related to school truancy can be found HERE.
Releasing students from campus:
1. Students must have an off campus pass in order to leave campus. Students who leave campus without an off campus pass will be considered TRUANT. Off campus passes are issued by the Attendance or Health Office.
2. 11th and 12th grade students: Parent requests for early release must be provided a minimum of 1 hour in advance in order to allow the attendance office time to process the request and to minimize classroom disruption. Below are the ways to request an early release for an 11th or 12th grade student:
